Having released in 2010 three Pergolesi albums and releasing, at the top of 2011, a Bach, Maestro Abbado continues his devotion to the 18th-century repertoire with three albums of Mozart s wondrous wind compositions.
This series of releases (April & July 2011, January 2012) showcases such notable soloists as bassoonist Guilhaume Santana, flutist Jacques Zoon, and clarinetist Alessandro Carbonare with Orchestra Mozart.
The first release includes the Sinfonia concertante in E flat, its themes familiar to even non-classical music lovers from adaptations by modern composers like Michel Legrand and Michael Nyman.
Mozart s earliest surviving Wind Concerto, K. 191 for Bassoon in E flat, and the thoughtful Flute Concerto no. 2 in D, K. 314, highlight the second release.

Maestro Abbado buffs Mozart s Horn Concertos, which date from a later period of his life, to a brilliant shine in the third release.
